2026-27 Initial Teacher Training Scholarships

Chemistry

With a Teacher Training Scholarship from the Royal Society of Chemistry trainees will receive support through their training year and beyond.

Successful applicants get £31,000 tax-free funding plus access to a programme of professional development events (covering hands-on practical training and key concepts in chemistry), expert coaching, networking opportunities and much more.

Computing

BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT provide successful applicants with £31,000 tax free funding throughout their year of initial teacher training. They also provide support and guidance along the way, through enabling access to resources, free CPD webinars, a coaching programme and workshops. There’s also two years’ free Professional (MBCS) membership.

MFL – French, German & Spanish

The British Council are offering a scholarship of £22,000 tax free to successful applicants. Follow the link and register for their information session to find out more about the process and what they can offer.

Physics

If you are ready to inspire future generations of physicists with your passion for physics by beginning a rewarding career as a physics teacher, the Institute of Physics has a £31,000 scholarship on offer. The IOP has 175 scholarships to award, which include continuing professional development support.

2026-27 Bursaries

No Scholarship For Your Subject? Bursaries Are Available For a Number of Our PGCEs

There may not be a scholarship available for your subject/phase, or you may choose not to apply for one. However, there are bursaries for a number of our PGCEs – you can find a list of current bursary-funded courses by clicking on the link above.

Postgraduate bursaries are tax-free payments you receive if you’re training to teach certain subjects. You do not need to apply for a bursary, you’ll automatically get one if you’re eligible.

New For 2026-27: Travel Funding For Non Bursary-Funded PGCEs

In partnership with York St John University we are pleased to be able to offer ‘travel to placement’ funding for our 2026-27 cohort for subjects that are not bursary-funded. Non bursary subjects at both primary and secondary phases will be granted a payment of up to £400 to support with placement travel costs.
